Irish Greyhound Derby champion Cheap Sandwiches is set to have his first public outing since capturing the Winter Racing Festival Championship 550 last November when he trials over 270m at Towcester on Sunday afternoon.
The brilliant son of Burgess Bucks picked up a knock earlier in the year but is said to be in good order at home. It will be great to see him back in action. Of course, he was beaten just two lengths into fourth in the English Derby decider at Towcester last June.
Cheap Sandwiches is clearly the star turn at the trial session but he is to be joined by a number of big names including Pat Buckley’s Derby finalist Glengar Silent, Paul Hennessy’s Easter Cup runner-up Lennies Tank and Mark Robinson’s Juvenile Derby champion Getup The Boy.
Others representing these shores set to trial include the Graham Holland trained duo of Riverside Scotch and Yorkie Ollie and the Pat Buckley trained Enniscorthy 525yd track record holder Glengar Kane.
