AN IRISH WEEKEND ON RPGTV

AN IRISH WEEKEND ON RPGTV

Ian Fortune

With Guy Fawkes night scheduled for Sunday and all that I associated with the weekend, be it fireworks or bonfires, it is understandable that there will be no racing in the UK this weekend but the Irish have stepped forward to makes sure RPGTV have plenty to cover.

Indeed, almost the entire weekend’s action on the channel is made-up of action from this side of the water. Jonathan Kay described the weekend line-up in this morning’s Racing Post under the headline “Irish Extravaganza on RPGTV this weekend”, he wrote:

“RACING Post Greyhound TV has [Gunpowder] plotted an Irish Extravaganza this weekend while UK evening racing takes a sabbatical due to firework displays up and down the country.

Tralee's Kingdom Stadium joins remotely-located Towcester on Friday night before a high-class Saturday night double featuring the €5,000 RPGTV Puppy Oaks final and Irish St Leger second round at Shelbourne and Limerick respectively.

Finally, on Sunday, Mullingar's normal afternoon meeting switches to the evening when the final of the €4,000 RPGTV Fair Warrior Open 400 will be run with Lifford offering support hosting a fixture featuring seven kennel stakes finals.”

Indeed, it’s great to see so much Irish racing on the channel and those that can’t make it to the track should tune in but wouldn’t it also be great to see the cameras picking up big crowds at the stadia so don’t be shy and make sure to get to the track if possible.
