WELL DONE TO NOAH AND NED

WELL DONE TO NOAH AND NED

Ian Fortune

Yacht Ned came home with two lengths in hand in the RCETS A4 525 Final at Shelbourne Park last Thursday evening.

It was a change in fortunes for the well bred son of Malachi and Annual Parlena, a daughter of the brilliant Yahoo Perlena, but it also gave her young owner Noah Morgan a real thrill.

It’s thanks to one of the great supporters of our sport, Irish Retired Greyhound Trust Ambassador, Brenda Powderly that I heard the story as she pointed me in the direction of Suzanna Collins’ Facebook post.

You see, Noah at just 13 years of age is quite the doggy man and had been bugging those around him for some time to get him a racer.

This is where I let Suzanne take up the story. Her Facebook post read, “A very special night for one young man Noah Morgan who had my dad’s heart broke for 6 months looking to get a greyhound then when we got him for him we couldn’t find a trainer to train him so we decided that he give it a go himself but at 13 you can’t so I had to take out a trainer license out myself for him. We didn’t have a great start with a couple of 6th finishes but last week we finished 3rd to qualify for the final tonight and tonight his dreams came through when Ned ran a cracker of a race to win the final for Noah … Yacht Ned!”

Between Noah’s determination to get a dog of his own and Suzanne’s decision to take out the license to train Yacht Ned, it’s clear he was destined to win on Thursday night. Well done to all, especially Suzanne and Noah.
