KING FASTEST AT KILKENNY AGAIN

KING FASTEST AT KILKENNY AGAIN

Ian Fortune

Killinure King was again the star of proceedings at Kilkenny on Friday night as he posted a fastest of the round 28.83 on his way to capturing his TIME Greyhound Nutrition A3 semi-final.

The opening heat was also won by the early pace-setter as Long Cascade made all to win in 29.17.

KING RULES

The headline went to Killinure King, however.

The Thomas Buggy trained son of Ballymac Best and Ballydoyle Grace was sent off the even money favourite and it was soon evident he was the right price.

Posting a rapid 4.22 sectional, he never saw another rival. Goingtherightway went up in second but was always going to struggle to get past the leader. The order never changed with Killinure King going on to score by a length. Freedom Reader was best of the rest in third, some six and a half lengths adrift.

CASCADE GIVES RIVALS THE SLIP

Long Cascade did what was necessary in the other heat. Going up well along the fence, he took charge on the corner and proceeded to make every inch thereafter.

Both Avongate Playboy and Foyle Amy ran on well to finish second and third but Brian Doyle’s pace-setting son of Good News and Luminous Fancy ran out a good length and a half scorer over Avongate Playboy. There was another length to Foyle Amy in third.
